And yet Google uses and abuses of his monopole, ranks websites around some vague algorithms, doesn't care about destroying the long work of webmasters, list more and more ads hidden in search results..

Google has his own rules but doesn't want to apply to Governements rules. In my opinion, some rules voted in democracy should be necessary to regulate the dictatorship of Google.

Awww, we feel so sorry about your puny porn site that didn't make it top ten searches...
As far as ads are concerned, you totally missed the boat here: not only they're not hidden in search results, as you say (what value has a hidden ad? ), but you'll be surprised that everybody that is in the online services business uses ads to pay for their bills. That's why you can still google (or should I say search) something for free.
Monopole? I think you meant monopoly, and the fact that you can use Bing, Yahoo and so on negates that argument.
You're a Google hater, that's all. Feel free to use anything else BUT Google's services.

The ITU's response to Google. http://itu4u.wordpress.com/2012/11/23/the-google-campaign-an-itu-view/

It adds some very important facts to the discussion and leads one to question why Google is so up in arms about this meeting. Perhaps it's Google who is the bad guy and it's the ITU who wants to provide protections against the corporate exploitation of internet users. After all, Google does harvest a ton of user information that it's always looking to make a profit off of it and that's not always in our best interest.

Is this the freedom you get in US? In every week i read a new article that make me belive the US is not very far from China in censorship. Last week was the news with Verizon disconnecting people from internet who access pirated content.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take you seriously when you use the word "monopole."

With the lying Obama regime and his marxist cronies he has surrounded himself with having 4 more years to destroy our freedom and install his fascist/socialist utopia I doubt the web will stay open. MS already build their OS's with built in back doors for the FEDS as part of their secret back room deal done to settle their monopoly suit against the government.

"A free and open world depends on a free and open Internet where google reigns supreme," reads the search engine firm's Take Action site. "[strike]Governments[/strike] google alone, working behind closed doors, should [strike]not[/strike] direct its future. The billions of people around the globe who use the Internet should have a voice controlled and monitored by google only." The microsite itself educates the average web user more than anything else.
"The kind of environment that we developed Google in, the reason that we were able to develop a search engine that has control on all your data, is the web was so open for google to take control of. Once you get too many rules, that will stifle innovation."
fixed.

If the Gov. wanted to, they could shutdown the internet pretty quickly. The problem with doing so is you would anger the masses, possibly to the point of rebelling and overthrowing said Gov..

I'm kinda shocked that they didn't bring up "The great firewall of China" given it's relevance.

It seems people representing Google are flooding the comment sections of websites across the internet with pro-Google posts and attacking those who question Google's agenda.

I didn't know Patriot Act was signed when Obama was president... Oh wait. Both sides are largely corporatists. With a few on each side actually working for the people.

Kam wins.

Seriously people.. Give me a break obama this obama that.. BLAH BLAH BLAH pull the heads from your ***. Democrat/Republican only care whats in THEIR best interest. Not yours or mine. Their only goal is to keep us content enough to keep making them money.

Google monopoly? I never did understand that.. When am I ever forced to use google? Phone OS? Nope, plenty of competitors there. Search engines? Nope, plenty of competitors there also.

Really can't think of a time were I am forced to use google without another means being available. I use it because in my opinions it's the best. I don't care about the stupid privacy crap because I'm smart enough to know anything you put on the web isn't private. Once it's on it's on.

I don't care if they have some stupid crap that might try and direct me to buy something it has come to think I would like.

What I really like is that hey at least they're standing up to the government even if they do have a hidden agenda which I'm sure they do. Just like everybody does. They're a corporation they're out to make money. But in this case our interest are the same.

Trufax, neither the US government nor Google really give half a care about you, your mother, your friends, or your dog. They represent their own interests, and it is up to YOU to decide what is in YOUR best interest and where YOU stand on an issue. No one telling you to take their side is looking out for you. Inform YOURSELF and decide YOURSELF. Do not form an opinion based on a corporation, a government, a religion, a political party, a union, or a job.

The government would like to legislate and control the internet as much as they can get away with to please their media industry lobbyists and silence the open forum. That's their interest. Google would like no control over the internet so they can run it as they please, control it themselves, and charge you as much as they can to line their pockets. They are a business now, with products to sell, NOT a simple search engine. That's their interest.

@house70: I don't have a porn site, and I'm not a Google hater. It was a relevant and fast search engine at first, but now it isn't as relevant anymore. And on a first search results page, there are now 75% ads. That means you have to pay to be in the first page, and be seen. You think that is normal?

There are so many hidden things that you random users clearly don't see. I won't go into details but i'm sure you will discover it if you search a bit
