you guys are missing the point. sure anyone can use a table and an ordinary chair or make one, but this is all about aesthetics. I bought the PlaySeat back in 2003 for 299, and that didn't include the wheel. Sure I paid a lot, but you should have seen the look on people's faces when they took a seat and played NEED 4 SPEED MOST WANTED on my pc w/the Logitech Gran Turismo 4 Racing Wheel 😉 Was a sweet setup. I definitely want one of these.

I built my own racing sim frame for about $30. Just took some metal tubing, and welded a frame together, about $10 in materials. Then bolted an old car seat from a Subaru Impreza, about $20, to the frame. With a Logitech G25 wheel and a 23" monitor completing the assembly, it's nothing short of awesome. I have it hooked up to my PC and have a lap board next to it so that everyone who comes over posts a lap time around Spa; similar to Top Gear's "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment.

It's a lot of money, but it's not really a high price!
If you'd build the frame yourself the steel and argon alone will set you back those 400 bucks - and I don't know about prices for 'fia approved seats' but the recaros for my manta set me back $400 used, so that's reasonable as well.

If you're gonna go for something like this, go for the real deal. A rig that actually moves and simulates up to 2G of acceleration.

Umm, we used this seat at a Donnington corporate day in 2008 (back in the days before the investor moron tore up half the track to cut off his revenue than then worked out he didn't have the money to build it back - sore point for UK race fans!) - this is a little late for news!
