Handbrake now supporting Quicksync?

From Engadget:

"Quick Sync accelerated video encoding will get a 50 to 80 percent bump, while support has also been added for Handbrake, the open source video transcoder."

Does anyone know if this is the case? I would think Engadget would be correct but there is nothing that I can find on the Handbrake website or the couple of Ivy bridge reviews that I read.

I've been wondering if I should upgrade from my x3 445 before ripping my Bluray collection, and this would make it an easy choice.

Thanks

There was an article with a similar flavor on AnandTech's website a while back (http://www.anandtech.com/show/6665/intels-quick-sync-coming-soon-to-your-favorite-open-source-transcoding-applications-), but I don't believe it has happened yet.

I'd say to go ahead and upgrade if you've got the scratch. Even without quicksync, your X3 is getting kind of long in the tooth and a new chip is going to greatly improve transcode speeds. Definitely get a board that supports (and includes) Lucid's passthrough tech, though.
