Hard Drive crashed, installed new one, now what?

My Hard Drive died a few weeks ago so I threw in a new one, checked the new one in BIOS and everything seems to be fine. The problem is that I was under the impression that I would be able to reinstall Vista on the new hard drive with my recovery disk but after I put in the disk, click install and enter my product key I get an error "cannot open required file DSources/Install.wim. The file does not exist. Error code 0x80070002". I have no idea what this means or where to go from here so if anyone could offer a solution and explain it to me like I'm three (I'm not very tech savy), or point me in the right direction of where to start looking for a solution it would be much appreciated! Also for further info I do have it set to read the CD drive first in BIOS, and it's booting up the disk right away.

If you burned this disk from your recovery partition, then the installer is unable to find the Install.wim file on the disc you burned. Why? Because your CD\DVD drive is not the drive that the file was on. Hence the 'D:Sources/Install.wim' portion of the error.

Your install CD/DVD may also be corrupt.

If either of these is the case, you will need to obtain a truly bootable CD\DVD or USB to reinstall Windows on your laptop.
