Again, your video card will definitely affect performance and below recommended specs for either the VIVE and Oculus. When I ran the Steam VR performance test on my main rig, which has an i7 4770K, 16GB ram, and a GTX 770 (that I since replaced with a GTX 1070 FE) the 770 was yellow, while the rest of the system was in the green. So while it should work, I wouldn't recommend it.

I can't tell you which is better, as I only have the VIVE, but I don't have Elite Dangerous.

My VIVE rig has:
i7 6700K
32GB ram
MSI GTX 1070 Armor

And it runs beautifully.

It might work with that video card, though not very well. That's the only thing that is below the minimum requirements. Suggest a GTX 970/1060/1070/1080, depending on your budget. Unless you want to go with the RX 480, but I only recommend Nvidia cards.

I am not sure if I should ask this in a new thread, but I am especially thinking of playing Elite Dangerous, and would like to know if the HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift is a suitable headset with my above system specs.
