I've been trying to get rid of a bad virus, I feel like I managed to but I'm unsure. I got a hijackthis log that I would like you guys to look at please and see if there is anything bad. The virus duplicates a file in task manager until my PC freezes.

If you really were a "computer technician" you would know that's utter rubbish. It is impossible to scan/clean an active system. The PROPER way is to remove the drive, attach it externally to a known clean system and scan with no less than 3 different anti-virus and malware scanners. With the drive attached externally there's no chance that any virus/malware that may be present is active and able to hide itself from the scan.

OP: I see an awful lot of missing system files in that report. Open a command window as administrator and run "sfc...

so to get away with paying for ransomware you just run safe mode, move teh files and hey presto you're clear? Don't think so.

Safe mode is just a reduced driver driver set, some autorunning software disabled, and not a lot else, anything that is trying to be hidden probably won't be effected.

you go safe mode in order to clear the virus from your system and copy the files to a hard drive in order to wait for a decryption later. You pick safe mode for stopping the virus from auto running.

I think it may have just been a bug, it was really weird. There was an empty folder creating hundreds of "Playerunknowns Battlegrounds.exe" and if I went to properties it said winlogon, and the folder was in program data with a strange name and no files in it what so ever, I deleted that folder and it seems to be fixed now. I did virus scans with malware bytes, kaspersky, and windows defender and found nothing so I will mark this as solved, thanks.
