Having trouble with WiFi on my MSI GE60 0ND

I was having driver problems with Windows 8 (my laptop came with it) and decided to downgrade to Windows 7. Now, even after installing all drivers and updates, I am unable to connect to any WiFi networks, and troubleshooting tells me that I have to turn on wireless capability.

Normally, this wouldn't be a problem at all, but I can't seem to find a wireless switch, and the button at the top of my keyboard does not change anything when pressed, even when I hold FN while pressing it, and it never lights up (the same thing happened when I had Windows 8). I've tried re-installing the N-135 drivers from both MSI's website and Intel's, and it still does not work with the same message. I've also tried FN + F8 and using Windows Mobility Center, and it says "Wireless off", but the option to turn wireless on is faded out.

Any help would be appreciated at this point, wired connection works by the way.

Is wifi enabled in the BIOS? Did you check your user manual? it might indicate where the switch is located (if there is a switch of course).

What do you mean by I tried reinstalling the drivers with same message? When you go to device manager, is the driver properly installed? What version of the drivers are you currently using? Any error messages in the device manager or in the system logs?

Did you contact MSI support? You might just have a defective card.

When I reinstalled the drivers troubleshooting still said I had to turn on wireless capability. I have tried checking for updates through device manager, and through what I can see it says that it's properly installed. There are no errors messages that I can see. The manual tells me that pressing the wifi button at the top of the keyboard should fix the problem but it doesn't.

I have not contacted MSI support.

Hi,

You should try S-BAR utility available on MSI web site - http/www.msi.com/product/nb/GE60-0ND.html#/?div=Utility&os=Win8%2064

Select your OS
Install framework 4 or 4.5
Install S-Bar corresponding to MS framework.(there is two version!)
Restart
After you will get at top of the screen a 'S' Icon to switch on or off wifi.

Strange I did do that but didn't seem to work. I kinda just gave up and went back to Windows 8... Blech... XD
