hd graphic taking extra ram!!!!

Solution
Yup, no way the IGP is actually *using* 4 GB of VRAM. GTA V's settings will list the VRAM that different settings require and if yours says 4 GB of VRAM, your setting are *way* too high. And quite frankly, I'd be shocked if the game was running well; an HD 5500 integrated is going to struggle to even reach 30 fps at 1024x768. That's the more likely reason it's running poorly.

Meh.

Look at system properties. See how much RAM is available to it. Or task manager.

For instance, mine says RAM: 16.0 GB (15.9 usable). The IGP is taking up 128 MB or so.

I have checked in task manager and it shows 7.9 gb available out of 8gb.But when i open gta 5 it shows 4010 gb of v ram availabe for graphics memory and the game is sloppier than expected.but it is supposed to show lesser amout of vram right?

Yeah, the game completely lies about how much it actually takes.

Download MSI Afterburner to view the real VRAM usage.

It's a bit choppy, but playable at 1366*768 on HD 4400 graphics on low settings on a crappy i5-4210u. I have dual channel RAM in it, which will help out the iGPU speeds just a hair.

FYI, my dxdiag (now out of the game) says:
Approx total RAM: 2160
Display Memory: 112 MB VRAM
Shared: 2048 MB

Intel HD graphics can allocate UP to 2 GB (4 in your case) if it is ever needed, but it will never really use that much. In most cases, it is less than a gig before it runs out of power. HD 5500 isn't too bad for what it is, though.
