Please help!! I am 15 years old so I am absolutely not tech savy!!! Okay so my Toshiba Satellite is 2 months old pretty much brand new. Background info: The only things I did on it was school stuff and The Sims 3 and Dota 2. Im almost sure that this started from a corrupted Sims 3 CC file. Anyways, I was downloading CC when my computer gave me this error: KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR on a blue screen and Windows 8 gave me a sad face and said it was attempted to fix it. Then when it restarted it would not get past the Toshiba Leading Innovation screen. I tried a System Restore (from the Windows 8 screen) and it was on 4% for a whole day (12 hours estimated) so I shut her down (probably a mistake) and now when I try to turn it on it gives me a black screen saying Reboot and Select proper boot device or Instert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key. My computer did not come with any disk or anything and my mom could barely afford this computer and didnt get a warrenty. I read online saying I should make my HDD/SSD my main boot priority in the BIOS menu but it shows up as Not present. Now im scared and on the verge of tears please help!! I dont need anything on my harddrive theres like 10 pics and Sims 3 .package files- dont need em. I am too scared to open the back panel and touch anything unless given video or step by step instructions. Please help!!! 🙁 I made an account just to ask this!!

Hi there anyadoll,

Is the drive recognized by BIOS? In case it is not, then it has most probably failed. In case it is, you can test it with some HDD testing tool for DOS mode(burn it on a flash drive let's say).
Before trying to open up the laptop, I would agree with popatim and say that you need to contact Toshiba's Support. As it is 2 months old, it should be under warranty.
