HDD SATA PC won't spin

help meee i just bought a second hand 3TB HDD SATA 3 days ago and now it won't turn on. i brought it back to tge seller and he said that the green thingy smells (i'm a noob at computer i don't know anything about pcs). he did promise me that he would fix it but i'm worried that he won't. it doesn't have any major data it's just that, i bought it for a reason and i just wasted a big money for that. i was hoping someone here can help guide me to how to fix it. and please don't use the names please guide me with how it looks because i seriously wouldn't know what you're talking about. i seriously spent my monthly allowance for the HDD i don't want to have to buy a new one. (which i can't afford). i'm a boarding student and i'm very broke 🙁

That was probably a bad idea,the person probably teied to sell it because it spoiled,best way is to try to get a refund

You can't really fix hard drives. The boards arnt exactly on ebay and opening it outside a clean room destroys it.

It's dead, DO NOT accept it back from him, he may have done something to make it spin and look like it works for a few days, but that's all it will be.
