hdmi cable connect ipad to laptop

Lol! You need to connect HDMI to a PC monitor or HDTV.

You cannot connect two computers together with a HDMI cable...

was hoping to mirror what is on ipad onto my laptop
why does th laptop have a HDMI inlet..??? does it serve any purpose..???

It's an "outlet" actually, it's meant to hook your laptop to a bigger screen.

On both your ipad and laptop, the HDMI port is for output only (output towards a bigger screen). They don't take any input.

While the HDMI cables are indeed output, there are apps to allow an iPad to control your PC. Maybe you want one to allow your PC to control and display your iPad? Or just connect it to a TV set with the cable?
