Question HDMI cable to tv

why cant i get anything from my laptop to work on the tv after plugging in my HDMI cable I get the computer screen pic up and if i start a film you can hear the sound but the film does not come up on the screen?

did you use "windows" button + "P" to extend or clone your screen to the TV? Doesn´t it even show your desktop?


which laptop and TV model is it?
try a different HDMI cable
