How do I took up my HDTV to get local channels without cable, satellite, or anything else?

You get a digital antenna and connect it, and then tune the channels on the HDTV (in the menu).

To the above I would add that you need to scan for channels before the TV will tune any of them. Different orientation and placement of the antenna affect the number of channels you would get. The picture quality of over the air broadcasts is better than cable.
