Headphone jack not working

My laptop headphone jack is not working properly. It only produce sound for left side of the headphone. I'm using win 8.1.
Is it because of windows or faulty jack?

look at the sound setting and see whether its shared equally run a 3d test and see whether its working if not its a jack problem
