Headphone Jack problems

No audio will play through anything I plug into my laptop's headphones jack, the computer seems to recognize that something is plugged in (the volume level changes), but that's it. The built in speakers work fine

Right-click the speaker in the bottom-right, and then select "Playback devices" and set the headphone to the default if it is there.

When you plug them in R click on the Speaker Icon and go to Playback Devices and make sure the volume is up.

Try another headphone.

I've tried multiple headphones, and there's no option for headphones

Are you plugging a headset that has both a mic and headphones on it into a headphone jack?

It has a detachable microphone, but I almost never use it, everything was working fine until about an hour ago.

Is it a two-cabled or one-cabled headset? If it is 2-cabled it will not work unless you plug it into an audio/mic combo jack. If you do not have one you will need a splitter cable.

That's the problem. I experienced the same issue a while back. If you have a headset that uses one cable for both audio and mic you can only plug it into a combo jack, which are only found on laptops moreso than desktops.
