Headphone mic prob

Hey guys,
I got my new headphones with a combo pack which means it has mic with it. Unfortunately my lapy has only 1 port and headphones need 2 .So i bought a splitter for it.But after using it the audio quality was total trash and only one of the speakers of the headphones was audible and the mic was not recognized by the system.So i thought of checking the mic first by connecting the jack of mic to the lapy only.But still the system didn't recognized it.Please help me !!!! 🙁

You mentioned your laptop only had 1 port for the headphones correct? That must be an old laptop or a very basic cheap of the line version because this means there is no mic input at all! Adding a splitter into the port doesn't help because there is no mic signal for the laptop to pick up. And I doubt checking sound drivers wouldn't help either because it's probably configured without microphone drivers as well. You might need to simply upgrade to a laptop that has a mic input, good luck!

Actually, you can use it on the same laptop, you just need an adapter to make the the 3.5mm plug connect through one of your USB ports.

Or you can get yourself a headphone/mic combo that comes with a USB connector.
