Solved! Headphones not working, laptop not recognising

This happened for absolutely no reason, everything was fine yesterday. Then I rebooted my laptop and started having issues with the audio. Whenever I plug in my earphones, the sound just continues to come out of the speakers. I have tried every solution I found online but nothing seems to work.

The headphones do not show up in playback devices. (3.5mm) The headphones are working fine elsewhere, and were working with the laptop perfectly fine yesterday. I've tried going to the Acer website and installing the sound driver but that didn't work either. I just don't understand how and why this issue decided to come up for no particular reason.

Anyone have any other ideas? Thank you.

Maybe your audio port is having some issues.
if it is under warranty, log a complaint or else get an USB to audio converter and check it

I have also been having this problem but on a toshiba. it was working fine 3 days ago and then i ran windows update and after i restarted it, it didnt register that the headphones were plugged in and it doesnt say there is any headphone devices in use.

uninstall current drivers and try installing the recent drivers from windows update
