Headphones plugged in yet sound is still coming from the speakers and in headhones

I want to be able to plug in my headphones and not hear any sound from my computer speakers. Instead I get sound from my speakers and headphones at the same time I just want sound from my headphones when I plug them in.

My computer does the same.
I just turn the computer speakers off.

Right click on the speaker icon in the lower right system tray.
Select playback devices and set your default playback device.
