I am currently in college and am looking for a decent headset to use with my laptop when I game in my free time, and I have a $150 budget at most. I have heard a lot of great things about the Siberia V2 Frost Blue edition, and Siberia V2s in general, however they only have stereo sound I believe.

Now I do play FPS games such as COD online but only every so often, so I do not know how important surround sound vs stereo would be for me. I mostly play single player games such as Skyrim or Dishonored. My friends are trying to suck me back into WoW or other MMOs so a mic is a must and comfort is always nice. Oh and I also sometimes listen to music while I study, but this headset is mostly for gaming.

So does anyone have a suggestion for a good headset? Would surround sound even be worth it since I am on a laptop without a fancy sound card? I have heard that there are ways to turn stereo into surround, is that possible for either the regular Siberia V2s or the Frost Blue edition? Is surround sound even that important if I am not dedicated to playing FPS games online?

I know it is a lot of questions but I am hoping that you all can help me.

I have heard good things about those but I have also heard that the receiver can sometimes go out, but that may be one in a million. Can you give me more specifics about why you like it? I would like to know people's experiences with different headsets.

Just to clarify some more things for everyone. Wireless and wired I have no preference over as long as the wireless does not cut out like some do. My laptop has no plug for a mic so a USB is a must.
