I was wondering what you guys suggest, a gaming headset or a nice pair of headphones with an external mic

If anyone can help me find a pair that suits my needs too that'd be great I'm looking to spend about $200 they need to sound nice, and i need to be able to use them on my phone (I want one pair for everything) I'd like a retractable mic, and if they looked nice would be a plus too.

I was looking at the Siberia Elite but I just want to see if those are recommended and what other options there are

Solution
i dont see why not. even a smartphone can power them and they sound great although like all high end headphones they do benefit from an amp if you have one.

i do encourage you to give it thought as to what you want (which options work best for your wants/needs) and do your own research on the products to figure out which is right for you. (customer reviews, youtube videos, etc)

just because i like something and recommend it doenst mean its right for everyone :)
ath-m50s $99 on ebay.com
modmic $36 on modmic.com

i personally own the ath-m50s and despite being really good sounding studio headphones they are powered perfectly by computers, laptops, mp3 players and smartphones.

---

honestly though it depends on what you want.

do you want high quality sound OR do you want cheap headphones?
do you want high quality sound in 2.0 or do you want lesser quality sound in 5.1 (well as best as headphone would give you in that regard.....)
do you need it to be usb or is 3.5mm fine?
do you want it to be one single headset or are you fine with dealing with two devices?

personally after using a nice pair of headphones for years i cant stand anything less. thats just me though.

your choice. based on the answers to the above questions i think you can figure out which is a better choice for you
