Headset won't work

So I have a hg 9012 pair of headset and recently I installed windows 10 and also upgraded my motherboard to a h81 gamer . When I plugged them in , the leds on them and on the mic work but the audio isn't and yes , I took care of them and are in perfect conditions. Some say to update the drivers from the sound programs but I'm afraid to do that , so any advice ?

Make sure the port you are connecting them to is for audio out, check both front and back ports. Is this a combo jack set or dual jack?
