Hi Guys,
Looking for some advice for a new Multimedia laptop.
Open to other options, but looking to purchase soon within the next 2 weeks. Never owed anything but a Asus, Dell, and Lenveno (work).
Two that I am currently looking at are below; but willing to consider anything

Looking for some advice for a new Multimedia laptop.

Budget range: $800-$1000 CDN after taxes (can go a little higher, but would like not to)
Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): Multimedia
Screen size preference: 15-17'', open to smaller size
OS preference (Windows/Mac/Linux): Windows
Gaming requirements (list example games and desired fps/settings): Very light
Other performance requirements (video editing, CAD, etc.): Photoshop, music production
Portability requirements (constantly carried, frequently moved, mostly stationary, etc.): None
Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): None
Long battery life -vs- Low weight -vs- High performance: High performance
Build quality is a top priority, something that can physically last for the next 5+ years.
My current laptop is a ASUS N53SV, I like almost everything about it, though battery life was not the greatest. AC jack has broken 3x now most recently 2 weeks ago. Now using tablet to get by.
Looking for a easy SDD swamp, extra hard-drive would be a absolute plus for more storage 750GB +.
Full numerical back-lit keyboard a must
Build quality is a very big factor, ideally would like to purchase something that would physically hold up and easily upgrade-able components in the near future.
1920x1080
Able to handle heavy multiple applications at once (Photoshop, 20-30 browsing tabs, 3-4 1080p sports streams; yes I will look into a 2nd monitor in the near future.
Good speakers
Dedicated graphics
