Hey, Forum Goers! I'm in much need of assistance in-finding a laptop that'll fit a few specification/requirements that I have. I've asked a few friends and they didn't recommend anything specially, but they all have said to avoid Alienware. So, I'm here to ask for a little help. I really don't have many requirements that are detail-oriented. They're basically broad/specifically generalized. The laptop will be needed throughout college; I've decided to finish my Art Education degree since my discharge from the Army.

The first requirement would be gaming. I like to play MMOs for a few minimal hours a day, and I really like my Steam collection as well. The laptop must be able to play Guildwars 2 in high-settings. I also would like to play newer games as well. (Loadout, Wildstar, EQN, etc.) So, in my free time, I'd like to be able to log an hour or two into a game is what I'm saying here.

The second requirement would be about school. I'd a laptop with a great storage device for any and all files I will be dealing with while returning to college. As well as room for all my portfolios/fan art, etc.

Art brings me to my final requirement, Tablet Support. My older PCs/Laptops did not have support for my Wacom Drawing Tablets. I don't specifically specialize in digital art, but I have been having fun with it in the past year.

Annnnnnd... that's about it really. The OS doesn't really matter for me 7 or 8 are just fine. I don't really like Macs at all, so I'd like to avoid any suggestions with Apple in mind. I think I covered everything I was thinking of during work today. If not, we can hash things out if any of you have the time and are so kind as to deal with me. Haha.

Thanks so much for reading, I'll monitor responses pretty late into the night since I have no engagements tomorrow. I'll keep constantly thanking people for any and all help because I have this mouth disease where I say "sorry" and "thanks" a million times. :p

Edit 1: I just thought of adding that I'd really prefer something that won't get hot and die within 6 months, and something with a nice battery life.

Edit 2: Back again, just realized it may be a little hard to find a pre-built laptop with said specifications. If so, I'm up for recommendations for websites that would build me one based on what I've written above. If you have a site like that at hand, please link it with a nice description of their services. (Last time I had something built was a terrible experience when looking for replacement parts.)

Edit 3: I should mention, I suppose, that I draw with Paint Tool SAI, Krita, and Photoshop. My old PC lagged in PS and couldn't even run Krita, so I also have to keep that in mind.

While in the Army I never spent much money, even while deployed. So, my budget is pretty high, though I'd rather not spend over 3500 USD.

If you're willing to wait for the new Lenovo Y series laptop like me, here ya go!

If you want to go a bit cheaper you could probably look at the Z50 coming out next month.
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/z-series/z50/

The Y series supposedly starts at $999 while the Z series supposedly starts at $499.

If you're pretty impatient, I've heard many great reviews about the current Lenovo y510p

I'm a college student who needs a laptop for school/gaming, and one of my preferences includes something slim.
I know you have a pretty high budget, but you could maybe consider those options and opt to use your money better elsewhere because if you're looking for something for your steam collection, these will bold quite well.

Yes, I agree that I shouldn't spend too much on a laptop, but that is the max I can afford if I wanted to push things. I'll favorite these suggestions and keep track of them. The y510p seems pretty decent for how cheap it is. Didn't really expect to see a laptop with an i7 that cheap. Thanks for these.

If it's not a bother, can you tell me a little about Lenovo? I've honestly never seen their name anywhere.

[Still open for more suggestions, everyone.]

I can't say much as I have never owned a Lenovo product, but they are definitely a reputable brand. I've seen them everywhere but I've never necessarily owned a product of theirs (but I may soon!).
Their thinkpad laptop series are one of the best business class oriented laptops around.
Lenovo is also one of the worlds largest PC computer manufacturer. When you look through threads about gaming laptops, the y510p is thrown in a lot in discussions. But if you're willing to wait, you could maybe look at the newer laptops coming out soon. I've read up on them and the build quality is supposedly amazing and not plasticy and cheap. They're also packed with a bunch of power for a low budget.
My opinion: I'm honestly considering the Z50 in March because I need a laptop for school with minor gaming, because I don't necessarily have the time to game anymore (I got a life and I'm focused in school) so I don't want to blow a bunch of money on something that I don't use 24/7.
