Asus seems good. I had an HP but it broke in less than a year. I was looking at Alienware, but they are really expensive

-I built a PC a year but have not kept up with the trends and I'm very unfamiliar with Laptop specs. It's seems, for what I've read that the new sandy bridge CPUs are the way to go, but I am unfamiliar with them. I was also thinking about purchasing from xoticpc. Is xoticpc a safe site to purchase from?

If you are willing to spend the money, I think that the Asus G73 would be a good choice. It'll last you awhile performance wise, so the need to buy a new laptop would be a few years down the road at the very least.

how is that g53 compared to the g73? and how is the new sandy bridge CPUs?

SB CPU's have been great, the MoBos have defective SATA on 2 of the 6 ports. Whether that's an issue will depend I guess on what ports were used in the build.

SB 15" jobs starts at just under $1200.

wow that's nice laptop. I might just buy from pro-star. I was browsing xoticpc, I was thinking about getting a Sager from them.

xoticpc is handy since you can compare the Asus and MSI options (and a few others) as well.

It's not often you find pro-star.com and xoticpc.com having identical prices on their identical systems. Industrial espionage?
