1.Acer any good compared to MSI?
2.MSI 6th gen vs 7th gen is it worth getting latest or get 6th gen which is cheaper

well i still have the old predator from acer with the 980m.solid built quality but lacking in cooling.i am not sure if the new model improve their cooling capabilities but i will skip it until a review is out for the new predator lineup.as for the 6th vs 7th gen cpu,performance difference is not that huge so u can safely choose the 6th gen as it is still a powerful cpu.

That helps a lot.I couldn't any proper review for acer 17x 2017 and I was concerned about the cooling.

This is perfect but not sure if I should try acer .not seen any proper review for acer gtx1080 models

I suggest staying away from the predator model until reviews is out.if.u still insist on getting the predator u can disable turbo boost,undervolt the cpu+enabling cool boost to keeps temps below 90c.
