Help please with choosing correct laptop for gaming son

Hello, I'm a mum looking for a laptop for my son for Christmas. He is 13 and spends all of his free time playing minecraft, making minecraft videos and uploading them to you tube. As well as playing a few online games with his friends.

He uses elgato game capture for recording his minecraft so will be looking to use the laptop to play on and edit upload etc.


I have spent a long time researching minimum requirements for gaming etc within my budget and have found the following

Please can you tell me - Is this suitable? Not enough spec or too much spec?

Acer Aspire V3 - 572PG 15.6" touch screen £579

Intel core i5 - 4210U (1.7 GHz, 2.7 GHz with turbo boost 3MB cache)

8GB DDR3 (16GB maximum installable RAM)

Or would the following be enough

acer E5 - 551 15.6" laptop £429

AMD A10 - 7300 processor (2.0GHz, 3.2GHz with boost, 4MB cache)

8GB DDR 3 (16 GB maximum installable RAM)

AMD Radeon R6

1TB HDD 5400rpm

I'd get the V3. But if he's going to record videos, rather he get a desktop.

So for a desktop do I look for similar spec or better - what minimums would you recommend ?

Get something better. However, most of the time you get much more with building one.
