Hi all,

I have an Origin EON 15X that I got about 3 years ago. Recently I've noticed that the computer will shut off when the battery reaches ~58%, suggesting the computer thinks the battery is at 58% when it's really empty. The computer turns on fine if plugged in, with or without battery. If I have it plugged in, the battery will charge...very slowly. It took about 5 hours to get from 83% to 84%.

I know most people will suggest calibrating the battery by charging it to 100%, letting it drain, and then charging it up again. The issue I have is (1) it takes so long to charge that I'm unsure if the computer can even reach 100% and (2) if I let it drain, it'll shut off at ~58% without reaching 0%.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I also thought about updating BIOS but I have exactly no idea what BIOS I have (it's listed as AMI with the manufacturer "Notebook").

Thanks in advance!

Actually, it likely that the battery is going bad and not able to hold more power. When that happens it is extremely common for it to give false percentage readings.

The way to fix it, replace the battery.
