Question help with KW3 Ultra 2 Ferefit

Hi all,
I need help with this device 🙏.
First ..... I'm old, and have only a vague idea as to what smart watches are used.
I bought this device yesterday, because I got it for next to nothing;
but, from what I've read, it seems like it's not much use unless one has a cellular
phone plan; my Samsung Edge does not have phone plan, only WiFi.
So, my question is ..... Is this device of any use without a phone plan; and ,
does it have to be connected to a phone in order to change it's settings?
Any help is appreciated.

You can try installing the smartwatch app on your device and see if that will allow it to work properly.

I do suspect that some functionality does require typical phone service.

Most smartwatches can do some basic things without a phone plan, like:

Telling the time, setting alarms, or using a stopwatch
Tracking steps, heart rate, and other fitness metrics
Showing notifications if connected to WiFi and an account

However, many features do require a phone connection, especially if the watch is designed to pair with a smartphone app to change settings, install apps, or receive messages and calls.


Since your Samsung Edge only has WiFi, you should still be able to use the watch for fitness tracking and some standalone features, but things like sending texts, making calls, or syncing certain apps probably won’t work. To change settings, most watches do need to connect to a phone app at least once, though some allow basic adjustments directly on the watch.


So yes, it can be useful even without a phone plan — just not for everything a smartwatch can do.
