Bandwagon: Seems like everything is pink, but what annoys me more is that these gadgets are really about the bling. I mean Diamonds in a mouse? I hope this isn't what women really wan: barbie materialism at its worst =/

Request: Though I'm a guy, I'm much more interested in seeing market research on what women really want out of their gadgets in terms of functionality specifically for females. Female geared funcionality is the real market that no one is talking about. Perhaps a Tom's poll, anyone?

Pink??!! I loathe and detest pink.
Nor am I interested in hardware because it has flowers or jewels on it.

Come on, stereotyping crap.

The barbie sterotype has made most girls think they have to like pink and be blonde and and have strange boyfriends like 'Ken'. Heck I ain't blonde and ya don't see barbie tuning up her computer now do you?
Yeah and the mouse looks non-egronomic any ways

Is the first picture a pic of a female fan of personal-tech ... or just a gadget model?

The term "geekette" sums it all up.

A geekette can never be a geek, because of the ette, which demands stereotypified connotations of gender. A true female geek would just be a geek.

This *IS* a criticism of this article.

As for the manufacturers, well, pink tech is not for female geeks (who would go for the tech in whatever was their favourite colour of the initial options), nor is it for the fictional creatures, the "geekettes".

Pink tech is just another toy for the pink fashion aficionados. i.e. a girl (or boy) who loves pink may have a pink handbag, but not be interested in a Nintendo DS ... but seeing a pink one may perk her (or his) interest up enough to respond to the rest of the advertising and choose to take it up.

Probably a model, I mean like who would even wanna show their face in the forum after abuse has been hurled like this?

Wait would a so called 'geekette' even care about fashion if they basically spend all their lovely time on a computer? I mean like I haven't even bothered to cut or style my hair in 1 year let alone have earings and stuff.

I know a few geek women but none who are attracted to pink, gold and bling for their gear. I did watch them drooling over the first iPhone they saw and various other gear based on cool functions ... much like men. It's almost as if women and men were all from the human race or something.
