Hook up TV to receiver

I have an older Yamaha receiver, trying to hook up with Vizio TV

You won't get an exact answer since we can't guess the models of you TV and receiver.
Depending on what audio outputs your TV has (HDMI-ARC, optical or coax digital, analog, or headphone out)
and what inputs the receiver has (HDMI-ARC, optical or coax digital audio, or analog audio) that will determine how to connect them.
You may need a converter of some kind if you don't have matching output and inputs.
