hooking up receiver

Hello. I have an Onkyo TX-DS575X av receiver with non hdmi port. I would like to hook it up to my Sharp Aquos smart tv. Is there a way to hookup to tv to get the true 5.1 surround sound?

Your TV likely has an optical audio output. Your receiver has an optical audio input. You need a toslink optical audio cable.
Check the manuals for details on turning the TV output on and assigning the optical connection on the receiver to an input.
