How can I get Alt + F10 to work on Acer 4500 laptop

Hi I need to do factory reset but Alt + F10 doesn't do anything. I worked 18 months ago.
Any advice please.

Try holding the keys down before you hit the power button-then turn it on and see if that kicks it into the recovery area.

I've tried that many times already. The only button that works is F2
