Question How can i suppress sound on connected dvd player

i have a new DVD player connected to tv by cable. Everything is fine except for the sound which plays through both DVD and tv. How can I suppress DVD audio. If I turn vol down it does same on tv

When you said "DVD player" do you mean one of those all in one DVD/amp/speaker setups? Because a DVD player does not have any sound playback ability without speakers. You may want to list your exact setup and how everything is wired together.
