How do I check my IP address on my laptop

My internet conection tells me does not recognize IP address how do I check it.

go to start< run type in "command.exe" no quotes then enter
this will open a black command prompt window, at the prompt type "ipconfig" and hit enter
it should list the addresses for all network devices in the system.
