How do I connect an ion disc player to an old receiver

Solution
If you mean an ION turntable for vinyl records it probably has it's own phono preamp built in. If yours does then make sure it's on and connect it to any line level input on the receiver (aux, tape, video etc).
If your turntable doesn't have a built in phono preamp and the receiver does then use the phono input. If both the turntable and receiver have phono preamps you can try using each one. One will probably sound better than the other.
There has to be a phono preamp to boost the output of the turntable and provide the RIAA EQ that all records need to sound correct.
