How do I connect my tv to my home theatre system?

Hi everyone,

How do I connect my Samsung 40j5200 smart tv, to my Sony str-kg800 theatre system? The tv unfortunately does not have an optical output.

What is the primary video source. Antenna, Cable, or Satellite?

If that the case then u need a new TV, no connection = can't talk.

Modern TVS talk to its Audio/Video Receiver via HDMI. Is been like that for 10 years now.

Are you sure about the Samsung model number? The Specifications Page does show a digital audio (optical) output.

Ok, but what if my tv and the receiver both have HDMI ports. Wouldn't I be able to use them? What setup would be needed for that?

Simple.

ALL INPUTS (blueray, playstation, cableTV) --------(HDMI)-------->A/V RECEIVER------>(HDMI)------->TV

@hsmithepa - The OP has already stated the only input is WiFi.
@nathanir - What about the optical audio out your TV is supposed to have (see my post above)?

Some specs show digital audio out some don't. It might be a matter of the country the set was made for.
They all seem to show that there is a stereo mini plug analog audio output that should work for you.
