i have not found any good answer through google, i need a method to do this. i know it is going to cost money so i need suggestions.
i want to connect the audio from my main pc with my laptop, some people say i must use a mixer. in this case i need one with good quality but still not to steep price

i have heard the y cable could hurt the audio-cards, and that is why i started to look for a mixer with good price and quality with 3.5mm jack connections

No the signal levels are too low to cause any problems, however a simple mixer would be better as you can then control each feed individually.
Be sure to get a line level mixer and not a microphone one.
You may have to get a mixer with RCA sockets and use RCA to 3.5mm cables.

hm sounds like the price is gonna get steep. what if i connect a 3.5mm cable from laptop to the line-in on audio card on the desktop-pc will that work? and or will it damage anything? i have a Asus Xonar D2X 7.1channel.
