How do I get all this working or should it all work

I have a virtually new Samsung UE40F5300AK – Type UE40F5300 TV (because my old one broke), a used Xbox 360, and TalkTalk Youview Box. I have just been bought a DVD Home Theatre System DAV-TZ140 and have connected all the above items to my smart TV with brand new gold plated HDMI leads but I cant get any theatre sound, what am I doing wrong?

PS. Its that old bloke with the big 'C' again!

You will need to add audio cable from the TV output to the hometheater input..

Hdmi cable wont allow the Xbox sound/audio to be directed to the hometheater.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly,
I already have an audio cable from the TV output (well its the only red/white bit on the TV) to the home theater input, then I turn on the DVD Player and loose all sound - maybe its something to do with the set-up - but which one - the DVD or the TV remote - or both?

According to the specs on your TV you don't have an analog audio output (red/white bit) so it must be an input. You do have an optical audio output. You will need one of these to convert to analog:

Thanks for your answer - it sounds like this might work and it makes sense (but hardly a birthday gift if I have to spend time and money though).
I have looked on eBay (UK) and found a few, I will get back to you because I don't know what to do with one or where it should go, although I can read instructions.
