Solved! How do I hook up my cable box to a Vizio smart TV using red white cords

Solution
What is the model number of the TV. The Yellow/Red/White are commonly referred to as AV or Composite cables; yellow being for video and red and white for left and right audio.

This is pretty old tech and in some cases, it's been combined with the Component ports of your HDTV. The Red/White audio of the Composite ouput still connects to the Red/White audio input of the component connection, but the yellow, video ouput (typically) plugs into the Green port of the Component input *IF* your HDTV supports it.

Your TV's manual should tell you if this functionality is supported.

Note: COLGeek's advice is still recommended. If you have HDMI capability, use that.

The TV may not even have AV ports, a lot of modern TV's don't. Cable TV would look rather bad at the 480p resolution AV cables can support on a 1080p or 4k tv. Like said above use HDMI if the cable box has it.
