How do i know if my phones headphone plug is functioning properly?

my headphones broke and i cant tell if the plug is ok

plug it in, open an audio stream or file or video and move the plug a bit inside the jack. If all is fine with the audio you hear, it´s fine.

Not much of a secret on how you would test the headphone jack, plug in a working set of headphones and see if they work.
