how do i use the av in on my pc to transfer video from camcorder

i have an av- in on my desktop computer. i want to transfer video from an old camcorder. will it work?

Do you actually have RCA/other video input in? 99.99% of computers don't have one. If you do have an input, just read your instruction manuals.

A true AV IN, and an old camcorder means....
You need some capture software, and you need to play the tape in the camcorder, and capture it in the software (writes to a drive).
This is actually realtime. So if it is a 1 hour video, it will take 1 hour to do this.
