how do you use the recovery disk

Somehow my computer hd has . Been erased. I noticed it has a y drive. Where do I go from here? All help is very much appreciated! Im running windows 8

Do you have a recovery DVD that came with the computer? If so, boot from it. Otherwise check the boot menu. There may be a recovery mode option listed in it.

Just out of curiosity, what computer do you have?

Who made it? If it was a factory job, there may be a restore partition. This will not get back your files, just return it to OOB.
