How is Win 7 vs 8.1 Pro on a laptop (no touchscreen)

Looking for a new laptop and im stuck between a win 7 laptop which im used to or win 8.1 pro

Pretty much equal.

8.1 is just fine on a regular laptop. Cause it to boot directly to Desktop, and it looks a whole lot like 7, but with the 8.1 enhancements.
And you almost certainly don't need Pro, unless you're in a corporate environment.
