How much would a defective laptop cost?

Hello everyone! I have a defective laptop and I would like to sell it as a whole or in parts but I want to have more profit so here it goes:

My laptop specification is:
HP 15-d017cl - 15.6"
A series A6-5200
Windows 8.1 64-bit
4 GB RAM
500 GB HDD

The problem is:
Defective motherboard and it is already been opened due to repairs

I bought for 300$ how could I sell it as a whole? Or should i sell it in parts?

with the mother board dead, you could try and get like $30 for the lcd (its $50 new on ebay). The problem is..its an a6 based laptop.. most people who have had it knows its a turd and would rather spend money elsewhere.

Is it possible if I sell the HDD, RAM, etc..? Could it possibly be affected by the defect?

sure you could sell it.. but whos gonna pay any amount of money for 4gb or a 500gb used hard drive? after shipping you probably wouldn't make any money.

ebaying all the parts would be the best bet, but you may have to wait until someone actually needs the part you have, i know some people who bought faulty laptops years ago and still havent sold all the parts yet. you could sell it on as a faulty unit for parts but you probably wont get many offers, or non for the price you want, but when its sold, its sold and you dont have it around any more. its entirely up to you and how long you want to have it around vs how much you want to make
