How to change the settings of the backlight keyboard?

How to change the settings of the backlight keyboard on a ASUS ZenBook UX330UA? Mine does work well, but I'd like to have if off as default and turn it on when I want it to be on.... during the day it often stays on and wasting my battery when I don't actually need it and it is very annoying to have to turn if off on fn+f3 every time.... thanks!!!

Per your laptop manual, the only way to turn the light off is through the step you just mentioned.
