Wpuld like to know how to clean lens on a bose cd player

I used to do with cotton swab ( for ears thingy) a bit of acetone since I dont have isopropyl alchohol and with very light pressure massage cause lense is moving up and down.
Wait for other suggestions before doing anything.

Unless the Bose has been in a dusty environment the laser itself may be on its' way out. An error message also points towards the laser being bad.
