Clearing out your cache can help you load websites and online content faster, but it can be cumbersome if you have many individual applications on your system. Clearing out the entire cache in your MacBook can save time and it is not difficult. You only need follow these steps.
1. Select ‘Go’ in the Main Menu
Click on the ‘Go’ option in the navigation panel on your homepage. A drop-down list will appear.
2. Select the ‘Go to Folder’ Option
Click on the ‘Go to Folder’ option in the drop-down list. A small dialog box with an address bar will appear on your home screen.
3. Type in ‘Cache Path’
Type in “~/Library” in the address bar under the ‘Go to Folder’ tag. Hit ‘Go’. The Library folder in your MacBook will open.
4. Open ‘Caches’ Folder
Open the ‘Caches’ folder in the Library. You will see several cache files relating to different applications stored in here.
5. Delete the ‘Cache Files’
Select all the cache files using ‘Command+A’ and delete them. These files will be moved to the trash and will no longer be stored as system cache.
6. Open Your Primary System Drive
You will see your primary internal storage listed on the left side of this window. Click on it. Your main system drive files will be shown. You will see a 'Library' folder.
7. Open ‘Library’ Folder
Open the ‘Library’ folder. You will notice another ‘Cache’ folder in here.
8. Open ‘Cache’ Folder and Delete Contents
Open the ‘Cache’ folder and delete the contents. These files will be moved to the trash and will no longer be present as system cache. While deleting, macOS will ask for your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’, as it deems them system files. After deleting the files, your system will be free of the stored cache.
Your user cache will have been deleted after following the above steps.
