How to connect a LG soundbar (optical or mini-RCA input) to a Yamaha receiver for audio playback (CD, records, MP3 - No TV)

What model soundbar and model receiver ? You will probably have to use RCA, because most home receivers don't have an optical output.

If the receiver has a digital audio output or analog record output then use them.
If not then you could use a speaker to line level converter.
