Option 1
Use a toslink optical cable.
Option 2
Use the HDMI cable from the receiver to the HDMI ARC input on the TV.
There is no advantage to either connection except you may already have the HDMI cable in place.
Check the TV and receiver manuals on how to configure the TV and receiver. Either connection on the TV may not be on by default. You may have to assign the connection to an input on the receiver too.
