How to connect a soundbar to an Emerson tv

I have an Emerson tv and want to connect a 32" ilive soundbar. I have the red & white cables connected to the soundbar & the power is on, I also have a line in on the side & don't know what & where it connects to the back of the tv. I did not receive the cords with it. Thanx

What model is the Emerson tv? Also exact model of the soundbar. Without knowing what outputs and inputs are available there's no way to answer your question.

Typically the red and white rca cables will come the tv's "audio out" and into the soundbar.
The "line in' on the side could be used for hooking up your phone or mp3 player to the bar.
What model tv is the Emerson so I can try and see what outputs it has
